Ok, here is the deal. The festival mistakenly forgot to put our final keg of Bourbon Barrel Aged (BBA) Black Jack on tap. So now we have this extra keg in our way, and we need to get rid of it. So Bo, Jim and I had a meeting on what to do with it.  After a few diligent hours of drinking, we decided that we should really make a decision. So, after a couple more beers one of us came up with the great idea to put it on tap at one of our stores for Cinco de Mayo!

At first we were glad that the strenuous act of making a decision was over.  But, as Jim was leaving work around 1pm , after a hard day of watching Bo brew, Bo reminded us that we only have one keg…..and we have three stores.  It was at this point we realized that we have even a tougher decision to make.  It also became quite clear to Jim that he was not going to make it home in enough time for his 1:30 nap.  But, we had to decide what restaurant would get our only keg of Bourbon Barrel Aged Black Jack Stout. After an intense debate, a few more beers and a grueling match or rock, paper, sissors; Jim, Bo an I came to a conclusion.  And that is…..we are too scared to make any real tough decisions.

So, we are leaving it up to YOU to decide where it will be tapped.  There is a poll posted on the right hand side of the home page of my blog. Go there to cast your vote for which store is to receive our only keg.  Do it quick, as the polls close on  April 30th at noon.  Make your voice heard!

Cheers,
Dave

Bel Air all the way… thats where all the real Stouties hang out anyway. Why waste a perfectly wonderful beer on a location where the demographic of light beer drinkers is arguably higher!

While Bel Air is a wonderful location to have a pint, and closer to my house, I vote for Arundel Mills. While Rob Enslin may be correct in his assessment of their tendency to drink Kangaroo Love and Bare Ass Blonde, my reasoning is quite selfish… Arundel Mills is on my way home from work! How convenient!

what about the baltimore city location on the waterfront? i vote there!!!

@ T Confused – though the waterfront would be a great location for a beer, sadly we had to close the store at the beginning of this year.

Bel Air is the better choice to host the last keg of Black-Jack Stout:
    • I totally agree with Rob Enslin that your customers in Bel Air are the more numerous of the stout-loving connoisseurs you serve in the Baltimore Metro area.
    • Kim B says it succinctly and with conviction: Bel Air!!!
    • Rick Scoop is absolutely nuts, and is more likely to drive after enjoying several of those mighty tasty stouts in Arundel Mills. If he enjoys his stouts closer to home in Bel Air, as he should, then he might be more incline to take a cab-ride home or call his wife. “Respect the Fluid”!!!! To keep Rick safe, the stout belongs in Bel Air!!!
    • Bel Air would be a great place to raise a cold pint of stout in remembrance of the passing of your Fells Point location. A moment of silence please! Truly a tragedy for those of us that relished your seasonal products. I would often go to Fells Point to fill my growler with brews months after they were sold out at your other locations. Last Thanksgiving Day weekend my brother came from Sam Adams country in Boston to visit, and I got him the sampler in Fells Point, much to our delight there were 14 beers on tap. Wow what a feast/fest!!! Again, a moment of silence please, as those of us in Bel Air raise our glass of Black-Jack Stout in remembrance of the passing!!
    • T-Confused must be a blonde or a lover of blondes in order not to realize Fells Point had passed away. Another indication that Bel Air loves the darker richer flavors of your Stout!!

I guess that’s why Bel Air had the extra firkin of the Imperial Rye Porter a couple of weeks ago….oh thats right….it was at Arundel Mills. I wonder why they decided to serve that at a place where demographic of Light Beer drinking is “arguably higher”? Maybe it should be at Bel Air on the fifth of May…..that means it should still be on tap for Xmas in July.

I go to both Aurundel and Bel Air so either one will be fine with me. If i had to choose just one it would be Aurundel just because it really is the best Duclaw!

Belair may be the home of the “stouties”, the barrel would last a few hours cuz there are not enough “stouties” up thataway. At the Arundel store, 40 mins tops.

    A. Mills is my vote! Respect the Millz! Bel Air may have ur “Stouties” but we r the Loyal! Its bad enough we have to come up there for “Real Ale Fest”…We should get the last Bourbon Black Jack! Kinda surprised no votes for Bowie yet! We want Black Jack @ the Mills!

The Arunel Mills DuClaws should get the only keg of BBA Black Jack Imprerial Stout.

I don’t know where Rob Enslin and Shawn Cobb get the data to indicate that Bel Air is where all the ” … real stouties … ” hang out, or that there are more ” … stout-loving connoisseurs … ” at Bel Air, but I rather suspect it’s just another one of those “internet data invention” instances. Either that or it may be a not terribly subtle and quite unkind:

    • denigration of the lack of physical fitness of the patrons at Bel Air; or.

    • a rather left-handed compliment on the “portly” (pun totally intended) aspect of the amorous proclivities of the Bel Air patrons

I have heard from wait staff, bartenders, Jim, and Dave all that the Arundel Mills DuClaws consistently has the largest sales of beer and food of any of the locations – by far. So, I believe the really central issue is: “At which location can DuClaws make the greatest number of patrons happy by serving the last keg of BBA Black Jack Imperial Stout?”

Clearly, the answer is: The Arundel Mills Mall Duclaws!

And – just to be fair, to insure all our highways and byways remain safe, and to “spread the JOY” I would like to invite ALL of the Bel Air “Stouties” to join us at the Arundel Mills Mall DuClaws to partake of the BBA Black Jack Imperial Stout. We have more than ample parking; and, we have lots of excellent, affordable hotels/motels (with courtesy buses from right outside DuClaws Arundel Mills no less). You can join us, enjoy to your heart’s content, walk to the courtesy bus, and go safely and comfortably recover without risking life or limb! Hell! I’ll even bet Dave Benfield can get you an excellent group rate at any of the accomodations for the night.

So Arundel Mills gets an extra keg again for the upcoming firkin friday? Is this going to be the norm every month? If so then I think it would be only fair for Bel Air to get the Black Jack. Vote for Bel Air!

  47. Dave Benfield
    Says:

@Andy – an extra firkin keg is normal for Mills. We usually kick the first firkin at mills in about an hour on less. At Bel Air the firkin doesn’t kick until much later in the evening.
